The Limburg Kempen is an area to satisfy everyone’s desires. It's a great area to visit with children, to go horse-riding, to enjoy the good life and above all, discover the most beautiful nature reserves!
Everything is on a large scale
In the Limburg Kempen, everything is on a large scale. Not only is the Hoge Kempen National Park the only national park in Belgium, the Bosland is the largest contiguous forested area in Flanders. And De Wijers comprises over 1000 ponds. And don’t forget the Kempen-Broek frontier park, the only three-star sanctuary in Belgium. In the belt of dunes you can climb the highest dune in the country. So much unique nature in this region - you simply have to see it!
The Limburg Kempen has everything a horse-lover’s heart desires. The bridle path network comprises no fewer than 600 km of mostly unmetalled bridle paths through the impressive natural landscape. Trekking through the Limburg Kempen on horseback at least once is a real must for any rider.

CYCLING THROUGH WATER
At junction 91 on the cycle route network you cycle through the water. You don’t need to wear wellies or a wetsuit, because, as luck would have it, you stay on dry land. But the cycle path takes you through the pond from one bank to the other. And at one point you cycle with the surface of the water at eye level on both sides. That's fun!
Don’t forget to take a selfie (with or without a swan in the background) and to share it with #FDHW.
