Endless nature

Catch your breath in the endless green with a diversity of landscapes. Whether you want to cycle level in the shade of the trees or take a relaxing walk over sandy flats. The choice is yours. The Hoge Kempen National Park is the only national park in Belgium. Depart from one of the six gateways that lead you into untouched nature. Coniferous forests, moorlands, grassy plains, and panoramic views are the trump card. In the Duinengordel nature area, you climb the highest land dune in the country. Bosland is Flanders' largest contiguous forest area where you can cycle through the tops of the trees, walk through the Lommel Sahara while the little ones romp around in the adventure forest.

The De Wijers pond area in the heart of Limburg stretches from Genk to Lummen. In Bokrijk you don't only cycle past these ponds, but right through them. The Bokrijk Open Air Museum whisks you back in time. Here you can discover how the past is inspiring our future! GrensPark Kempen~Broek, right at the border with the Netherlands, is the only three-star silent area in Belgium and therefore the perfect place to enjoy the unique flora and fauna in peace.

Sports enthusiasts and adrenalin junkies

The Limburg Kempen is bursting with sports activities. Winter sports enthusiasts, get your skis or snowboard ready. There is always snow in Snow Vally in Peer, regardless of the season. Do you prefer to throw your board on the water instead? Terhills Cablepark is hidden in the middle of the Hoge Kempen National Park. Here you can enjoy wakeboarding and water skiing and drink a cocktail in the cozy beach bar. Some more speed? Then racing at Karting Genk or Circuit Zolder is definitely your thing.

The Limburg mining heritage

This region carries the fascinating past of the mining industry. The remains can be found everywhere in the form of mine shafts, slag heap, and coal tracks. Many of these former mining sites have been transformed into cultural and experience hubs. LABIOMISTA in Genk is not to be missed. Artist Koen van Mechelen has installed himself on the former Zwartberg site. His art is spread over the entire domain, from animal park to landscape art. In C-mine Genk you literally dive underground and feel what it was like to be a miner. Also in Beringen, the old mining site be-MINE is now a place where you can dive, swim, mountain bike, romp, climb, ...

Paradise for horses

That is what we can call the Limburg Kempen, a horse's paradise. The rider and horseback riding and buggy route network consists of no less than 600 kilometers of mostly unpaved paths, through impressive nature. Special horse-friendly cafes and accommodations make this region very suitable for day trips and holidays with your horse.

The Limburg Kempen is the region par excellence for a fun family holiday. Water fanatics are welcome in the water park of Aqua Mundo. You can play for hours in the largest indoor and outdoor playground in the Benelux: Tarzan & Jane. Don't forget to take your shoes off and feel nature between your toes on the Barefoot Path.

Are you a true fashionista? In Maasmechelen Village you will find more than 100 designer boutiques and a lot of cozy restaurants. Or enjoy yourself in the numerous stores of the indoor shopping center in Genk. Very useful in case of downpours.
