Tessenderlo-Ham

Tessenderlo is located in the westernmost corner of Limburg, at the intersection of three provinces. Popularly known as Looi, it is also home to Flanders' first recognised quiet area.

Small art, big view

On the façade of the town hall, you will find the LOMAK (Loois Museum for Contemporary Art), the smallest museum in Belgium. The display case contains a changing exhibition of artworks, which you can view from opposite using a viewer. Looking for something more adventurous? Climb the spiral staircase of the tourist office tower and enjoy the breathtaking view from 19 metres above the forests of Gerhagen, with the mining slag heaps of Beringen, Averbode Abbey and the Basilica of Scherpenheuvel in the distance.

Experience the silence

Gerhagen Nature Reserve is Flanders' first officially recognised quiet area and forms the gateway to the extensive forests of de Merode. On the Whispering Path, the Silence Path or the Musing Bench, you will feel completely at peace. The area offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the total tranquillity with a drink or a snack.
