Gerhagen Nature Reserve

Gerhagen Nature Reserve is the green lung of Tessenderlo-Ham. With an area of 945 hectares, together with the Merodebossen it forms one of the largest contiguous forest complexes in Flanders.

Since 2010, Gerhagen has flaunted the title of “Stiltegebied”, an official Flemish quality label.

Thanks to extensive management and protection work, some species that had been lost have returned there.

Gerhagen is an attraction for “soft” recreation: hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing, etc.

The recreational center of Poort Gerhagen houses several catering establishments. Also located here are the Forest Museum, a large playground and a dune with observation tower.

On the northern edge of the nature reserve is a vast off-leash forest for dogs.
