In these nature reserves in Lommel, you don't have to look far to find the purple flowers. They provide a beautiful setting for a walk or bike ride. The heath blooms from mid-August to mid-September.

Go on a space journey with Bevernaut on the Planetary Path!

Put on your walking shoes and follow Bevernaut, the curious space character who takes you on an experiential walk through our solar system. The Planetenpad is a child-friendly route of about 2.5 km, where you walk past a scale model of our solar system.

Along the way, you will come across twelve informative boards with fun facts and hands-on tasks that Bevernaut has selected especially for children and young people. Learn, discover and marvel as you explore the planets with Bevernaut!

The route is fully accessible for wheelchair users and prams, making it perfect for a family outing in nature.

You start at the observatory of Sterrenkundevereniging Noorderkroon at Domein de Bever and follow the planetary plates along the pond to WZC Aan de Beverdijk. A handy leaflet with the route is available free of charge from Inspiratiepunt De Groote Heide, Domein De Bever, V.V.V. Hamont-Achel and the UiTpunt in Hamont-Achel.

For everyone who loves nature, science and wonder - and of course for those who want to follow Bevernaut on an extraterrestrial adventure!

Reindeer hunters ... in Zonhoven? Some 11,000 years ago, during the last ice age, it was the most normal thing in the world. Find out all about it on the 3.5 km Reindeer Hunter Trail in the Teut nature reserve. The local Holsteens family will take you on an adventure through thousands of years of history, from reindeer hunters to Stone Age farmers. You can listen to their story on the listening columns or by scanning the QR code on the information board. With life-size staging you can imagine yourself in the middle of a reindeer hunt or take a time jump of several thousand years. The QR codes also provide additional information or allow you to play games that test your knowledge of life in the Stone Age. In short, a very adventurous journey for young and old that is accessible free of charge from sunrise to sunset. Part of the path is semi-paved so that even less mobile visitors can enjoy this journey through time.

Your journey starts at the impressive Astra rocket, where you step into the shoes of an astronaut. Do you dare to press the launch button and experience the thrill of a space launch? From there, the Planetenpad guides you step by step deeper into the universe.

Alpaca walks in Hees Bilzen-Hoeselt
We already have 20 years of experience with alpacas. Each animal has a name and be sure - also his/her own character. The farm has more than 20 cuddly animals. Since summer 2024 we organize alpaca walks. Our visitors enter along the cherry tree drive. There they can immediately get acquainted with us and of course the animals. Animals and visitors stand at 1 m distance during introduction, explanation and round of questions. With the little ones between the mother animals, this is already an endearing moment. Visitors who wish to walk with an alpaca on a leash get acquainted and take their first steps in the garden. People not accompanying an animal can also walk along. The trail in also suitable for wheelchair - baby carriage. The tour lasts at least a 1 hour - expandable to 1.5 hours. During the tour further explanations are given about the animals and crops in the fields. During the walk there are hugging and photo moments. Evening footage will be sent to visitors. After the walk, visitors can participate in care of the animals. (Depending on the time of day) We conclude with a delicious snack from our own bakery. If desired, visitors can reminisce on our terrace. The whole event takes 2 - 3 hours depending on your interest. The formula can be extended if a broader program is desired. This valley is one of the loveliest river valleys in Flanders, with a fantastically diverse and rare ecosystem on its river banks. Everyone can enjoy the natural beauty of this valley by taking a walk along the network of loops in the towns of Peer, Meeuwen-Gruitrode and Bocholt.

These walks start at the Bosuil recreation area, where kids can play while their parents enjoy a drink. You can choose between 3 walking loops of 4, 8 and 11 km. If you like rural charm, this is the place to be! The paths wind through a varied landscape with many hedgerows, forest plots, quiet country lanes, meadows, and a winding Warmbeek. The longest route takes you along the Kempisch Canal, with a plane tree avenue and reed fringes.
