Lommel

Lommel, all the way in the north of Limburg, is the city of sand and glass. With its own version of the Sahara, as well as endless play forests, water fun and a mix of glass art and craft under a glass tower, Lommel has everything you need for a successful holiday.

Things to do in Lommel

At House of Nature, the monumental steel sculpture by artist Will Beckers, your adventure starts. From this gateway to Bosland National Park, follow one of the suggestion loops or map out your own route via the hiking network.

The Lommel Sahara is a must-visit. In the middle of pine forests, you will find 200 hectares of surprising sandy landscape, speckled with clear blue lakes. A real mini desert, just like that in Belgium.

You can already see it shining in the distance during your trip: The Giant of Bosland. This 30-metre-high watchtower is a tough climb, but it is absolutely worth it. 144 steps later, you'll enjoy a nice breeze and a phenomenal panorama. Every route in the Sahara passes by here!

The artful glass spire is a familiar sight in Lommel's skyline: this is the GlazenHuis. The centre for contemporary glass art is undoubtedly the hottest place in Lommel: the glass oven turns at more than 1,000 degrees every day. Come admire glass works of art, buy or make your own! Please note that the Glass House is closed until autumn 2026 due to renovations.

No matter what the weather, at Aqua Mundo at CenterParcs De Vossemeren it is always subtropical warm. Whiz down the Monkey Splash slide at 30 km per hour, go with the flow in the wild water rapids or explore a wonderful underwater world in the snorkel pool. For the quieter ones, there is the lazy river or one of the bubble pools. The little ones experience child-sized water fun in the paddling pool.
