Mining heritage

Mining. It was really something in Limburg. It all began in 1901 when André Dumont discovered coal in our region. Men came to Limburg from all corners to work as miners: from Poland, Italy, Spain, Turkey... In short, from everywhere. And of course they brought their families with them. And their delicious cuisine!

The collieries now

A bustling, multi-cultural world grew up around the eight collieries in Limburg and they are all ripe for discovery!
