Herk-de-Stad is a small municipality in western Limburg. Direct neighbour of Hasselt and home to Belgium's oldest alternative rock festival: Rock Herk. Three rivers cross its territory: the Herk, the Demer and the Gete. From here you can explore the watery nature reserve Schulensbroek and a wine domain with delicious natural wines.
Things to do in Herk-de-Stad
The Landscape Walk Schulensbroek takes you through one of Flanders' largest nature reserves. Open space full of water, vast grasslands and numerous water and meadow birds: the polders do not seem far away. Don't forget your binoculars!
Fancy seeing the water up close? At the Schulensmeer, water rats have fun fishing, sailing, kayaking, supping or surfing.
At the highest point of Herk-de-Stad, you will find wine domain De Caybergh, where wines are produced naturally, with as little intervention as possible by the winegrower. Come take a look behind the scenes and taste the result for yourself.
