Bolderberg-Viversel - blue hiking route

An inlier is a solitary mound in an otherwise flat landscape. The Bolderberg and the Galgenberg are two examples found on the territory of Heusden-Zolder, and it is these 'mountains' we explore on this 5.1 km hiking route. Therefore, we probably don’t need to explain that a decent climb lays in store. 

But as always, after the climb comes the reward in the form of a beautiful panorama. At the top of Bolderberg, you look out over the Zarenvijver, with Terlaemen Castle at the water's edge. It’s no coincidence that this spot earned the title of 'star site'. 

Now that you have reached the top, it’s worth looking around, as there is a historic piece of heritage awaiting in the form of the Vault and Chapel of Our Lady of Loreto. Did you know that a hermit still lives here? 

You hike between the two hills some way past Circuit Zolder and the velodrome before heading back into the forest. 

After your hike, you can enjoy a well-deserved rest at Domein Bovy. Children are sure to have a great time with the farm animals and in the playground.
