Set off on a hike from Grote Hof through this enchanting piece of nature in Bosland National Park. Ancient trees and an impressive lime tree in the central courtyard show you the way. This historical heritage dates back to the 12th century.
The hiking route leads you to the mysterious Hobos, which means 'high-lying forest'. Drossaard Clercx (a historical bailiff of sorts) lived here, the notorious persecutor of the Bokkenrijders gang of thieves. You hike past the historic mansion, the tenant farm and a wealth of ancient landscape elements.
Today there is still evidence that there used to be a lot of heathland here. In August, the patches of heather scattered in the forest turn purple.
Nature and culture come together in idyllic fashion. The nature reserve is managed by the Agency for Nature and Forests and the Municipality of Pelt.
