Embark on a peaceful hike through the Groote Heide on the 8.7 km yellow route. Thanks to passionate nature management, this hike offers a diverse landscape with pine forests and the stream valley of the Warmbeek that meanders through it once more. Most of the route consists of unpaved paths that may be muddy in wet weather.
Start at De Achelse Kluis. Pop into the visitor centre for additional information about the area. You'll delight in the variety of fragrant pine forests along the way, as you follow the banks of the Warmbeek, with charming views of the abbey and surrounding meadows here and there.
The pond at Domain de Bever is a fun place to take a break, surrounded by experiential elements for children. This easy hiking route ends where you started; you walk up the stately lane leading to the Achelse Kluis after a captivating tour.
