B&B De Zilveren Helm

We welcome you to our B&B, De Zilveren Helm. To discover the environment you can visit our local forests (Kempen) or walk through the famous hollow lanes (12 m deep) which cross Halen’s hills. Cycle tours pass by small rivers with water mills, old monuments (like the Sint-Jansberg monastery with its typical café open on Sundays) and local musea (like the Reinvoart where you can taste the white Hageland wine on Sundays). Small towns like Halen, Herk, Diest are nearby. Further information on other events or interesting places to see is available on request.

Halen is known as the location of a famous battle which took place in the First World War. A lot of names find their origins in this `Slag der Zilveren Helmen’ (literally translated `The Battle of the Silver Helmets’) in1914 and you can visit a war museum near the battlefield.

Our guest rooms (Velpe, Mettenberg, Hageland) include television and a bathroom with toilet, shower and sink.

Our famous Hageland breakfast includes various breads from local bakeries. Enjoy our homemade marmelades and yoghurt with pieces of the Jonagored apple in it. It is this apple that is used to make the local Halens Helmpke jenever. We also offer you gingerbread and `speculoos` ( a local biscuit made with brown sugar, cinnamom, nutmeg and other spices)., freshly made fruit and a boiled egg. Coffee, tea or freshly pressed orange juice are served. We can also offer you bacon and eggs or some locally produced goats’ cheese.
We wish you a pleasant stay in our B&B!
