BioDrome and Butterfly Garden Lieteberg
Immerse yourself in the BioDrome, an engaging exhibition that encourages you to reflect on the vital importance of biodiversity and helps you see nature in a new light. Embark on an interactive journey through the forest and the stream valley to the post-industrial landscape and the heathland. Through fun facts and fascinating stories, you’ll learn how animals, plants and fungi work together and communicate with one another. The role of humans in preserving biodiversity should not be underestimated either. You’ll immediately understand the nature conservation measures taken in the Hoge Kempen National Park.
Your senses will be stimulated: feel, hear, smell and see just how ingenious nature is. Through digital games, young nature heroes also learn how natural processes such as soil formation, water purification and pollination continue to function properly. Because that is crucial for our basic needs such as food, clean air and clean water. Can you earn your BioDrome certificate? Then a fun surprise awaits you!
Finally, the ‘Panorama van de Kempen’, a gigantic painting measuring no less than 33 metres long, comes to life. This unique piece of heritage, painted by Charles Wellens, pays tribute to the old Kempen landscape.
Then go in search of the native pearls in the flowery Butterfly Garden (open from May to September; admission included in the BioDrome ticket). Enjoy a refreshing honey beer, a delicious slice of Limburg pie, a sandwich or a hot meal on the terrace of Bistro Lieteberg.
We ask groups of 20 or more to book in advance.
