Lovely locations on the horse riding and buggy network

Along the Abeek near the Luysmolen in Bocholt, a picnic area with hammocks was set up where it is nice to stay and relax. There are 6 hammocks available for loan at the Luysmolen for € 3 each for 2 hours.

"Negenoord-Kerkeweerd nature reserve (Dilsen-Stokkem) was once a gravel extraction site. Today, it is one of the many nature reserves being created along both the Belgian and Dutch sides of the Grensmaas. At the same time, a large cross-border 'Meuse Valley River Park' spanning over 2,500 hectares is being created, gravel is being extracted and more space is being provided for the river. This limits the risk of flooding.

In harmony with nature
The Negenoord-Kerkeweerd nature reserve is managed all year round using Konik ponies and Galloway cattle. They create a mosaic structure with open spaces, flower-rich brushwood and bushes. Recently, the beaver was also introduced to help out. Because of their grazing pattern and the supply of lime-rich gravel and seeds from the south, you find flowers and plants in Negenoord-Kerkeweerd that you will hardly find anywhere else in Limburg (except in the areas of the Meuse).
This floral paradise in turn benefits a great many butterflies and bees, such as the rare Andrena hattorfiana bee and the Queen of Spain fritillary.

Observation tower Negenoord
This unique hiking area recently acquired an observation tower.
The tower was built in the middle of the area, on a mound at the highest point. The loam tower occupies a spot in the centre of the hiking area and offers visitors a wonderful view of the Meuse Valley River Park. Only natural materials such as clay, sand and Meuse gravel were used, all in the right proportions.

Roving adventurers
Because Negenoord-Kerkeweerd is so vast, you can roam around the ‘struin’ zone (area where visitors are allowed to roam freely). There are no paths, but you can follow those made by the Konik ponies or Galloway cattle and pretend you are in the middle of nowhere.
To guarantee the large grazers and other wildlife in the area are not disturbed, we do ask that you do not take dogs into the ’struin’ zone. Dogs are welcome on the footpaths in other parts of the hiking area."

During a Tai Chi in Nature day, you explore the undisturbed Voeren nature and Gert turns it into a real experience for the senses: become aware of the sounds of the woods and streams, experience silence, taste what the landscape produces. And all this combined with calming relaxation exercises and Tai Chi.
The Tai Chi excercises will be made extra accessible during this day. As a participant, you do not need any Tai Chi experience. Breakfast, lunch and delicious après Chi will be provided for each participant.

Between nodes 171 and 149 of the cycle route network, you will enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of Zepperen's orchards and its picturesque village centre.

Anyone walking through this immense area will remember the image of sandy soil and pine forest-covered dunes, intersected by dirt roads. Gerheserheide has all the assets to keep not only hikers but also cyclists and horse riders busy for hours. The 7 km "Nightjar Trail" is an ideal way to explore the area.

Especially for the little ones, there is a play forest equipped with several large play equipment. Slides and climbing equipment guarantee hours of fun in a wooded environment.

In the sports forest you can use the fit-o-meter. You always walk in the greenery and on a surface of coconut shavings. A beautiful, relaxing route where you can hear the birds singing and if you are lucky; see the deer crossing.

You will find the play and sports forest when you climb the steps of the geological wall, right by the sports hall.

This area comprises 65 ha and has an elevation difference from north to south of 160 m. to 240 m. above sea level. On the steep, western slope you can find an oak-birch forest with a variation of oak, lime, ash, bilberry and beech. The Alserbos is one of the rare places in the Voer-region where heather, gorse, pennyroyal and woody chamois feel particularly at home. Even the badger feels at home here and has an ideal living and foraging area. Part of the nature reserve has been opened up as a "play forest". Starting point: Bauwerd, 3792 Sint-Pieters-Voeren

This new hike is suitable for children from 7 years of age and costs € 2.5.
The tour lasts 3.4 km; on the way you will be given various assignments.

Unfortunately this route is not suitable for wheelchairs or baby carriages.

"Voetgolf" or footgolf is a combination off soccer and golf! You play the game with a soccer ball, there are 15 holes on an area off not less than 2ha. You kick the ball from the kick-off mat to the hole in as less kicks as possible.

It is definitely an activity for the whole family, there are plenty "luck"-factors which makes that it is not sure that the best soccer player will win.
