During the eighth and final stage, you’ll first be presented with a vast heathland landscape at Ten Haagdoornheide. Around 300 sheep assist in nature management here. Following the fish ponds of Hengelhoef, typical of the Wijers region, you will reach LABIOMISTA. On the foundations of the mining past and the old Zwartberg zoo, you will discover the life’s work of Limburg artist Koen Vanmechelen.
The Zwartberg mining site itself has disappeared, but the mining cathedral still impresses today. In this final stage, you will also explore the garden district and mining cathedral of Waterschei. Via Thor Park and the Stiemerbeek Valley, you will walk to the finish in Genk.
