Limburg is a mosaic of unique landscapes, and this route bridges the Maas Valley and the Hoge Kempen National Park. You start at the old Meuse arm in Stokkem and cycle through Dilsen towards the Kolenspoor, a former coal railroad. Like a train it goes towards Station As, a pleasant stop on the route where there is plenty to discover.
You then cycle towards 'Cycling between Terrils', where a unique floating bicycle bridge takes you from the twin mine heaps to the panorama mining heap, right across the gravel lake. After a passage on the mine site and Eisden's garden city, you look for the winter dike of the Meuse again in Vucht. The natural landscape of Rivierpark Maasvallei, with its typical fauna and flora, offers itself seductively. We follow the Meuse downstream back to the starting point, but first pass through Leut and the castle grounds of this Meuse village.
Final tip: Upon arrival at De Wissen, dismount and explore the Negenoord-Kerkeweerd nature reserve for a pleasant encounter with wildlife in exceptional nature.
