Inspiration route Haspengouw

This cycle loop with steep climbs starts in Borgloon. Along the way you pass colorful fruit orchards, church villages, the old fruit track Kolenspoor, the beautiful 15th-century Abbey Mariënlof, castles, the fruit experience center Stroopfabriek in Borgloon, and the traditional syrup distillery Vrolingen.

This route has some moderate climbs and takes you through open landscapes with square farms and church villages. Make a stopover at the Panorama basin. You cycle along the old Roman road that connected Cologne with Bavay. The highlight of this tour is the Gallo-Roman tumuli, burial mounds that are almost 2000 years old.

Tongeren, Belgium's first city, fascinates with its Roman and medieval relics and beautiful basilica. A tough cycle route with a few steep climbs through a backdrop of impressive castles and fortresses. You also pass Herstappe, the smallest municipality of our country.

A route with a few moderate to steep slopes through the intriguing marl landscape with its sweeping panoramas. You depart from the Grand Commandery Alden Biesen, a silent witness to a rich past. The route takes you by more castles, such as  Belgium's oldest wine castle, and impressive square farms. The fruit trees and vineyards tickle your senses.

This mainly flat route with some moderate climbs takes you throughout a varied fruit landscape dotted with church villages, square farms, and castles. You cycle through orchards and the wooded area of Domain Nieuwenhoven. The Sint-Rochuskerk in Ulbeek, which won the Flemish Monument Prize in 2012, is a stone's throw from the route.
