Kunstennacht in Z33

With a cozy jazz bar, Z33 kicks off this edition of Kunstennacht. Accompanied by three exhibitions, Gert-Jan Dreessen and his trio serve up the best of Belgian jazz.

Art in abundance

What does faith in art mean today? Faith is mostly about our relationship with the unknown and incomprehensible. How do we navigate the uncertainties of life and where do we find stability? With "A Leap into the Unknown," Z33 guides you through an intriguing web of artworks by (inter)nationally renowned artists such as Igshaan Adams, Peter Buggenhout, Berlinde De Bruyckere, Daan Gielis, Kris Martin, Paul Thek, Danh Võ, and many others.

For a breath of fresh air, head to the old exhibition wing of Z33. The skylights of the 1958 building were uncovered especially for the occasion. It's no surprise that light and shadow take center stage in the exhibition by Latvian artist Daiga Grantina. She leads you through a choreography of hollow forms, where shadow pervades composition and scenography. At the end of your art walk, the exhibition by Riar Rizaldi awaits. He creates films that explore the relationship between science, fiction, and technology. You'll feel like you're on an otherworldly film set where "Fossilis" (2023) is on display.

Jazz

From 7 pm to 9 pm, the bar at Z33 transforms into a cozy jazz bar. Gert-Jan Dreessen and his trio present a mix of traditional and contemporary jazz, classical and electronic, and experimental music. Featuring some of the most striking personalities in Belgian jazz: Jean-Paul Estiévenart (trumpet), Cyrille Obermüller (bass), & Gert-Jan Dreessen (drums).
