Ever wonder where our current habits and traditions come from? Or how the past inspired our present and future? Craftsmanship of today, yesterday and tomorrow is what it’s all about in our open air museum. Be surprised by four interesting museum parts which each have a different focus: Kempen, where you can see craftsmen in action and can get to work in one of our new workshop barns. Haspengouw, where actors take you back to 1913. East- and West-Flanders, where you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the cultural landscape during a nice walk. Or ‘The sixties’, where real life decors of a living room, gas station or pub take you back to the turbulent sixties. Besides the museum, you can also enjoy a hike or cycle in the green or even through the water! Or visit the Arboretum, with various plant and tree collections. Kids can play in the free open air playground. Perfect for a nice family day out!

Jocomo Camping Park is a 4-star family camping with all modern facilities and comfort. Jocomo is located in Lanaken on the edge of the largest forest and nature area in Flanders, the National Park of Hoge Kempen. A splendid contiguous area of 5700 hectares with vast pine forests, pristine river valleys, beautiful purple flowering heather fields and an environment with a variety of activities and attractions. This spacious residence park covers a total of 31 hectares and is equipped for annual, seasonal and tourist places. There is enough space for touring caravans, mobile homes, campers and tents. All sites have electricity and water connections.
If you don't have your own camping equipment and you want to spend the night after a day of cycling or walking, you can visit one of our cabins. There are also chalets and mobile homes for rent.

Children's farm

Combine the Waterburcht or a walk in Hoge Kempen National Park with a visit to the children's farm, one of the six local gates of the Hoge Kempen National Park. A pleasant stroll among the many farm animals ... it is an experience for every child, and admission is free!

In the cuddle paddock there are sheep and goats that may be gently cuddled under supervision. You will also find cows, chickens, rabbits, ducks, geese, pigs, deer and donkeys at the children's farm. Don't forget to visit the Huis van Lotte & Giel, a small animal shed for rabbits and poultry. You can admire more than 20 native breeds there; various information panels and interactive games can help with this

House of Lotte and Giel

In the house of Lotte and Giel, children can enjoy themselves among 18 homegrown chicken and rabbit breeds.
Rabbit Lotte & rooster Giel tell stories about their friends. Through various colorful information panels and interactive games, the children are initiated into the wonderful world of rabbits and chickens. A Flemish Giant, Izegem cuckoo, partridges, the stone rabbit, a Pearl Gray from Halle ... you will find them all there. You can even touch or hug a rabbit under supervision. The house of Lotte & Giel is free accessible!

Game Upside Down

During the restoring of the mine building in Winterslag, we found an old archive cabinet of the mine police with investigation files on mysterious events.

Upside Down is a treasure hunt on which you will get to know Winterslag garden city in a fun way. If you get through the various tasks properly, you will find the solution to the riddle.

Fun treasure hunt 'Where's Cyriel?'

Who is Cyriel? What did he do in Winterslag mine? And where is Cyriel now? You will find the answers to all these questions during this fun game. Hold on tight, as you will dive below ground in the corridors of the C-mine expedition, no less than 6 metres deep!

You will gather tips through a range of activity tasks. They will allow you to find the answer to the question 'Where's Cyriel?' Unravel the mystery and - who knows - you might just win a medal for your performance!

The game is played in the C-mine expedition and is suitable for children aged 6 to 12 years. (only in Dutch)

The longest water slide takes you through the many bends with a devilish speed. In the tube slide you can even slide with your own rubber boat!
The little ones can splash around to their hearts. The soil is only 30 cm deep and runs very gently to a maximum depth of 1.80 m.

Children can romp in our large playground. Slide down the slide, crawl into the carousel, dive into the swing basket. Climb the space net or conquer the climbing fort!

In short, everything to spend a nice day with the children.

Kelchterhoef is often associated with water. Rightly because the recreation park 'De Plas' has everything for a day out with water fun for the whole family: a swimming pond of about 20 ha, and a beach with delimited swimming zone.
From 1 July to 31 August inclusive you can swim every day between 10am and 6pm in the well-defined swimming area, provided lifeguards are present. The green flag means that swimming is permitted.
Admission is free.
