Every inch a spoil heap
Coal that was brought to the surface had to be separated from stones via washing before it could be sold. The stones were piled up and the stone mountain or spoil heap was created. After the mine closed the spoil heap was sowed and signposted footpaths were created. Climb to 100 metres and treat yourself to an impressive panoramic view of the mine estate.
