From Neanderthal to Gallo-Roman

Discover the story of the man from prehistoric times to the end of the Roman period. In the Gallo-Roman Museum, you look at more than 2000 authentic objects and learn about the past through films, lifelike figures, and models. Children explore the past with the archaeologist Bob Digger. During the school holidays, the museum organizes workshops and quests for children. The museum is also known for its impressive temporary exhibitions.

Museumsite Teseum

The Teseum Museum site at the Basilica of Our Lady, houses one of the richest religious art treasures from the Low Countries. You get access to the attractive cloister garden and corridor, an oasis of peace in the middle of the city. Then you visit the archaeological site of the Teseum. This second museum, three meters underground, reveals the secrets of Tongeren. A multimedia trail guides you through this 2,000-year-old story.

Grootste antiekmarkt

Every Sunday morning, you can visit the largest antique and flea market in the Benelux. In the shadow of Tongeren's medieval walls, more than 350 exhibitors and about 40 antique shops display their treasures.
