Belgium is the country of beer. Whether a pint is poured with love, is recognized immediately here. It is not without reason that our beer culture is acknowledged as Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. You can happily hop between different Limburg breweries, and in one of our many distilleries, you can combine all those beers with a tasting nip. Are you coming to meet our VIBs (Very Important Brewers)?
In a number of local breweries, you can try the hand-crafted beer. A Trappist beer from Achel, a Toetëlèr from Hoeselt, a Tripel Kanunnik from Wilderen... Which is your favourite?
A digestif, anyone?
With three jenever distilleries still operating, Hasselt has grown into Flanders' jenever capital. And recently, there is a Limburg whisky, gin, and rum on the market. The Wilderen brewery and distillery has devoted itself to creating a Limburg variant of these spirits.

Bocholter Brouwerij Museum
Here the Martens family brewed beer from 1758 until mid 19th century.
Today it is a multifunctional museum of 4.000 m².
The true beer connoisseur will prefer the Trappist beer available in 33 cl bottles with an alcohol percentage of 8°. It is also available to buy from retailers. But..... in the Abbey shop or inn you can also get a bottle of 0.75 cl, refermented in the bottle and with an alcohol percentage of 9.5°, the connoisseur’s ‘ultimate’ Achel Trappist.
The Abbey Inn is located in the former stables and has been completely restored. It also has a beautiful, spacious terrace. The perfect place to enjoy a drink, a selection of cakes and a snack. Visits to the brewery are restricted to groups, however, the brewing kettles can be viewed from the cosy inn.
